Fire Suppression
The Brockville Fire Department has been in existence for many years providing fire protection for the citizens of Brockville. Over the years this service has changed immensely going from horse drawn streamers to modern day custom pumper trucks. The role of the Fire Department has also changed, at first it’s sole function was to provide fire suppression but with the ever changing demands of society the new Fire Department finds itself involved in many different activities.
Fire suppression is still the main function of the Fire Department. Providing a quick response in a professional manner to control loss of property and life is the top priority of this department. Well trained personnel and modern equipment deliver this service to our citizens and to the Corporations that call Brockville home.
Rescue is another service provided, our personnel are trained in water rescue, ice water rescue, auto extrication and search and rescue at a fire scene. We also provide confined space training courses.
The Brockville Fire Department is trained as Level 1 Responders to Haz Mat situations, giving us the skills to control the hazard area, identify the hazard and contact the appropriate agencies required to deal with the hazard.
Medical responses have become a major part of the Brockville Fire Department. This Department responds to EMS calls in conjunction with the Leeds Grenville EMS Service. These calls involve all life threatening situations. To be enabled to respond to these calls our personnel are trained in First Aid, CPR and defibrillation.
Our Fire Suppression Division works extremely hard to lower fire loss in the city of Brockville. Our Fire Suppression Division must be available 24/7 to respond to various calls, all of different natures.
